Dramaturgy in DJing — Flow, Tension & Set Identity
Dramaturgy in DJing — Flow, Tension & Set Identity (duration: 3h)
By
SARA DZIRI
What makes a DJ set feel like a journey rather than a sequence of tracks?
In this workshop, electronic artist and DJ Sara Dziri introduces dramaturgical thinking in DJing: how energy, tension, release and emotional pacing shape the experience of a dancefloor.
Through guided listening, collective discussion and short practical exercises, participants explore how track selection, transitions and timing create flow — and how a distinct DJ identity emerges through these choices.
Rather than focusing on technical mixing skills, the workshop focuses on musical decisions, storytelling and set architecture.
Open to beginner and intermediate DJs with basic mixing experience.
Participants are invited to bring 3 tracks they often play in their sets. Bring a fourth track you love but rarely play. Practical:
Time: Tuesday 7 April. Doors open at 18h30, the workshop starts at 19h00 sharp until 22h00
Location: Underdog Classroom (
Rue Adolphe Lavallée 39, 1080 Brussels)
