GARDEN TALES | What a pool !
Hidden behind the sober façade of a religious order, the grounds of this former mansion are a true green oasis in the heart of the dense urbanisation of this area of Saint-Gilles. Signed ‘Obozinski arch. 1937', the façade was changed during the second half of the twentieth century and no longer features the clean lines designed by the modernist architect from the town.
The garden has retained its old-world charm and evokes the heyday of the Lambiotte family, wealthy industrialists in search of an ornamental garden with all the luxury amenities of the time. The focal point of this vast space is an ornamental pond designed by the architect himself, perfect for bathing in the summer months.
Today, the still waters of the pond are disturbed only by the tranquil comings and goings of a couple of Indian runner ducks that regularly visit.
