GARDEN TALES | A miniature Jules Buyssens
This small city garden on Place Stéphanie is undoubtedly the work of Jules Buyssens, a great landscape gardener of the first half of the twentieth century. It features a horizontal plane ending in a semi-circle, an opus incertum path, a dry stone wall peppered with rockery plants, a bamboo grove and ferns, all of which were highly popular elements within the New Picturesque Garden movement, founded by Buyssens in 1913. Although this garden has shrunk over the years, its 1930s spirit lives on.
