Petty Bison - Thomas Vantuycom
In Petty Bison, four dancers immerse themselves in the choreographic language of urban dance – a form that usually unfolds in short yet remarkably rich compositions, ‘amuse-bouches’ that leave the audience as satisfied as a royal banquet. Here, the dancers seek to sustain that abundance across a full-length performance. With flair and fiery energy, they embrace the lavish excess of dance that bursts with movement, rapid shifts, and driving rhythms. They revel in multiplicity – an overflow of ideas, gestures, and vitality – and flirt with excess. What emerges is choreography on steroids: a torrent of motion and information that nonetheless maintains a sharp sense of direction, guiding the spectator’s gaze with precision.
Though the choreographic language may be that of urban dance, the performers remain true to their own movement identities. No headspins here – instead, a soundtrack of swinging guitars creates such an irresistible groove that you might find yourself sweating in your seat.
