Pierrot: from a wild idea to customer-driven growth
Starting Pierrot was, frankly, a wild idea. We were fed up with creating the same registration forms over and over again. So, as two developers looking for a fresh challenge, we decided to channel our frustration into building a system—and ultimately, our own product. The odds weren’t exactly in our favour: the deadline was tight, the competition was fierce, and our budget was next to nothing. But we were undeterred. Inspired by the film "Pierrot le fou", we quickly found a name that matched our bold, slightly rebellious spirit.
That’s how we thrive: fuelled by deadlines and real-world use cases. We listen carefully to our clients, learning what they feel is missing from other applications, and we let Pierrot grow organically from there. If we believe a feature request adds value, we don’t just build it—we build it for free. For instance, our initial focus was on creating a simple, automated B2B invoicing tool, which became one of Pierrot’s foundational features. Then came the need for ticket scanning and validation, leading us to develop a scanning app. When a film festival wanted to use handheld scanners instead of iPhones, we expanded the app. And when clients asked for more customisation options, we delivered. Every step of the way, Pierrot has grown in response to the needs of our users.
But flexibility is only part of the story. In our eyes, one of Pierrot’s greatest strengths is our unwavering commitment to support. We know there’s nothing more frustrating than running into a problem and not being able to reach someone who can help. That’s why we pride ourselves on being accessible and solution-oriented. Whether it’s brainstorming a tricky request or setting up your first event, we’re there. Over time, we’ve realised that no two events are the same, and every client has unique needs. We embrace those challenges and work tirelessly to find the best possible solutions.
Of course, being a small, independent player in a crowded market isn’t without its challenges. We can’t match the “freebies” offered by big competitors, and flashy marketing campaigns are beyond our reach. But what we can do—and what we do exceptionally well—is listen to our clients and respond quickly to their needs. That’s how we’ve managed to grow year after year, building lasting relationships and an ever-evolving product.
As of early 2025, we can proudly say that Pierrot is a stable product equipped with numerous innovative features, providing solutions for almost all our clients' needs.
The journey has been unpredictable, but that’s what keeps it exciting. We’re eager to see what the next year holds for Pierrot!
